Why it matters here
Web design for a street where people decide on the footpath.
Petersham trades on being walked past. New Canterbury Road and Audley Street carry a run of Portuguese bakeries, charcoal chicken, cafes, barbers and small studios sitting shoulder to shoulder, and a good number of them are found the same way: someone is nearby, they search, and they open the first two or three results.
That is a very short decision. If your photos are stock, your hours are wrong or the page takes four seconds on mobile data, the person is already reading about the place next door. None of that reflects the food or the work. It reflects the website.
Our website design work here is built around that moment. Fast on a phone, honest photographs, hours that are actually correct, and a booking or order path that takes one tap rather than three.
The second job is the planning search. Petersham also gets people deciding on Tuesday where they are eating Saturday, often from another suburb entirely, and that person wants a menu, a price range and a photograph of the room. Two different visitors, one site, and the structure has to serve both without burying either.
Small Inner West operators are also unusually reliant on being current. A seasonal menu, a closure, a new opening hour, a change in what you actually offer. If updating that requires ringing an agency, it stops happening, and a site that is out of date does more damage than one that is plain.
